Neoaphelomera Miller View in CoL View at ENA
APHELOMERA Skuse 1888: 1206 (preocc. Stephens 1833). Type species: A. sydneyensis Skuse 1888 View in CoL (mon.).
Neoaphelomera Miller 1945: 72 View in CoL (nom. nov. for Aphelomera Skuse ). Type species: A. sydneyensis Skuse 1888 View in CoL (mon.).
N. armata ( Freeman) 1951: 61 View in CoL , fig. 120 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Lago Gutiérrez. Holotype ♂, NHM.
( Figure 33 View FIGURES 31–43 )
Notes. The type series included the male holotype and one male and one female paratype, all of which are at the NHM . The labels of the holotype are: “ Aphelomera / armata [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to an acetate sheet] // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Gutierrez / 3–14.xi.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257940”. The abdomen of the holotype was removed, but is not mounted with the dissected terminalia. The paratypes are in better shape, with the terminalia not dissected ( BMNH (E) # 257941-2) .
N. cristata ( Freeman) 1951: 60 , fig. 117–119 (♂ terminalia), 278 (wing). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Lago Correntoso. Holotype ♂, NHM.
( Figure 34 View FIGURES 31–43 )
Notes. The type series included the male holotype, eight male and five female paratypes, of which the holotype, four male and four female paratypes, one paratype with the abdomen missing, and one specimen is missing from its point are at the NHM. The labels of the holotype are: “ Aphelomera / cristata [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Correntoso. / 18–25.xi.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257929”. The distal two thirds of the abdomen of the holotype were removed from the specimen, but the terminalia mounting is not at the pin. The paratype numbers are BMNH(E) # 257930-9, two males having the terminalia mounted .
N. inermis ( Freeman) 1951: 61 . Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Lago Correntoso. Holotype ♀, NHM.
( Figure 35 View FIGURES 31–43 )
Notes. The type series included only the female holotype. It is labeled differently from most of Freeman’s types. The labels are: “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Correntoso. / 18– 25.xi.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “ Allodia / inermis / n.sp. Gpe [?] [hw] “BMNH(E) # / 257943”. The specimen is in good condition.
N. subcompleta ( Edwards) 1940a: 462 . Type-locality: Brazil, Santa Catarina, Nova Teutônia. Holotype ♂, NHM.
( Figure 36 View FIGURES 31–43 )
Notes. The type series included only the male holotype. The labels of the holotype are as follows: “ Brasilien / Nova Teutonia / 27º 11’ S 52º 23’ W / Fritz Plaumann / 1.7.1938.” // “Brit Mus / 1938-682” // “Type” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // [male terminalia dissected, mounted on an acetate sheet] // “ Aphelomara / subcompleta [hw] / F.W. Edwards 193[pr]8[hw]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “ HOLOTYPE [pr] / Aphelomera / subcompleta [hw] / det. J.E. Chainey, 1996 [pr]” // “BMNH(E) # / 257928” GoogleMaps .
