TYPE:— ECUADOR. Zamora-Chinchipe: epiphytic in cloud forest at the pass between Loja and Zamora , 2700 m, 11 Feb 1978, Luer et al. 2530 (holotype: SEL!).
Distribution: — Ecuador.
Notes:— This species is endemic to high mountains of Zamora Chinchipe of southeastern Ecuador. It is caespitose with slender ramicauls that are longer than the leaves, similar to M. hirsuticaulis .
