Remarks. Mimela abdominalis was known from Mount Mauson in North Vietnam so far. The examined material documents its presence in South China for the first time and expands its known distribution in Vietnam. This species, together with the recently described M. amphichroma Prokofiev & Zorn, 2016 from South Vietnam, can be assigned to the M. rugicollis -species group (sensu Lin 1993) because of the maculate and laterally wrinkled pronotum with longitudinal medial furrow, basal marginal line complete, primary costae rather narrow and mesosternal process absent. Mimela abdominalis is most similar to M. rugicollis Lin, 1966 ( Fig. 14D–F, I View FIGURE 14 ) from Hainan Island, China, and can be distinguished from the latter by the round apex of the right paramere ( Fig. 14H View FIGURE 14 ) (acute in M. rugicollis ; Fig. 14I View FIGURE 14 ). Moreover, the abdomen of males of M. abdominalis is more strongly curved ( Fig. 14B View FIGURE 14 ) than in M. rugicollis . Dried specimens of M. abdominalis are generally more greenish than M. rugicollis . The green pronotal pattern of M. rugicollis is partly or completely divided but not divided in M. abdominalis .
Distribution. China *: Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi; Vietnam: Lang Son, Lao Cai *, Vinh Phuc *.
