Shrub 2 m. Branchlets, petioles and pedicels pinoid-puberulous). Leaf blades oblong, 1–3-nerved (sometimes obscured), glabrous and lustrous above, below granulose-puberulous to glabrate. Flowers 4-merous, apparently bisexual but clearly protogynous (in Peruvian specimens); style glabrescent with minute hairs.
Distribution in Peru:—Paramo, in shrublands, between 3150 and 3310 m.
