Shrub 1.5 m. Young branchlets glabrous and terete with stipuliform flaps. Leaf blades oblong-elliptic, both on both surfaces, ciliolate-serrulate, 3–5-plinerved. Flowers 6-merous; anthers with a small dorsal pore. Fruits with the calyx tube very conspicuous, about 5 mm long.
Distribution in Peru:—Montane forests, on both western and eastern slopes, between 2400 and 3077 m.
