Type (lectotype, designated here):— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, 1844, Widgren s.n. ( S no.09-21806; isolectotypes: S no.09-21801, S no.09- 21808, S no.09-21810, S no.09-21811). Remaining syntypes:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, Corcovado , no date, Langsdorff s.n. ( LE00001343 ) ; BRAZIL. no date, Mikan s.n. ( W [†]). ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 )
Protologue citation:—“Brasilia leg. Mikan (Herb. Vindob.). et Widgren (Herb. Holm.). Corcovado leg. Langsdorff (Herb. Hort. Petrop.).”
Notes:— Körnicke (1862) cited the gatherings Langsdorff ( LE), Mikan ( W), and Widgren ( S). Only a photograph of Macbride’s Collection (Photo Negative no. F 30053) was found for Mikan s.n., which possessed a signed label by Körnicke. In addition, a sole specimen of Langsdorff s.n. was placed at LE herbarium, also with Körnicke’s handwriting. Lastly, the Widgren s.n. gathering has five specimens deposited at S herbarium, and all of them were seen by Körnicke, including the specimen S no.09-21806, which is herein designated as the lectotype.
