Lomariopsis japurensis (Mart.) J.Sm., Hist. Fil. View in CoL 140. 1875.
Range:— Guatemala south to Amazonian Brazil and Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC).
Ecology:— Common; hemiepiphytic in humid forests, growing on fallen branches, tree bases, and sometimes on the ground; to 500(1050) m. The stipe exudate is used by the Bolivian Chacobó Indians to alleviate stomach ache ( Boom 1985).
Notes:— In this species, and in L. japurensis and L. nigropaleata , juvenile specimens have simple blades until they reach a length of about 15–20 cm, beyond which the leaves produce pinnae. These simple leaves may be confused with Elaphoglossum but lack cartilagineous margins.
