5. Litsea mysorensis Gamble (1925 a: 130) View in CoL .

Type:— INDIA. Karnataka, Mysore, Aglatti, 3500 ft., Nov. 1908, A. Meebold 4979 (lectotype K-000260040!, here designated).

Syntype:— INDIA. Karnataka, Mysore, Bisli Ghat, 3000 ft., Nov. 1908, A. Meebold 4921 (K-000260041!).

Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:— Gamble described Litsea mysorensis on the basis of specimens from ‘ S. India. Bisli Ghat and Aglatti, Mysore, about 1000 m. alt., Nov. 1908, A. Meebold 4921, 4979 ; Wynaad, Malabar. Beddome ’, but no specific herbarium sheet was designated as holotype. Except Beddome gathering, two specimens, one each of the two gatherings of A. Meebold are traced (K-000260040 and K-000260041). The best one, K-000260040, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having drawing of dissected flower by J. S. Gamble .

6. Litsea nigrescens Gamble (1925 b: 1236) . Tetranthera panamanja sensu Wight (1852: 14 & t. 1836), non Buchanan- Hamilton ex Nees (1831: 67).

Type:— INDIA. Kerala, Travancore hills, 1889, T. F. Bourdillon 48 (lectotype K-000357614!, here designated).

Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:—Gamble described Litsea nigrescens on the basis of specimens from ‘W. Ghats, hills of Tinnevelly and Travancore, at low levels (Wight, Bourdillon)’, but no specific herbarium sheet was designated as holotype. Except Wight gathering, three specimens of Bourdillon are traced, two at K (K-000357613 and K-000357614) and one at CAL. The best one, K-000357614, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also includes a short note by J.S. Gamble.
