Type material: Holotype: male ( IZCAS), Guanjiadadong Cave (Alt.: 1597 m; T.: 8 ºC; H.: 94%), Chenjiazhai Village , Zhaile Town, Nayong County [26°49.160´N, 105°20.367´E, Guizhou, China], 26 April 2007, Y.C. Lin and J. Liu leg. GoogleMaps Paratypes: 17 males and 32 females, same data as holotype ( IZCAS) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin words “ furca ” (= fork) and “ spina ” (= thorn, spine), in reference to the bifurcate strong spine I on the male pedipalpal tibia. Term in apposition.

Diagnosis. Leptonetela furcaspina sp. nov. is similar to L. deltshevi ( Brignoli, 1979b) , but can be distinguished by the asymmetrically furcated tibial spur I of male pedipalp, the absence of median apophysis, the blunt and furcated conductor, the broader embolus, the contracted and contorted spermathecae, the narrower atrium with inverted “W”-shaped at anterior margin (female of L. deltshevi unknown).

Description. Holotype male. Total length 1.56. Prosoma 0.84 long, 0.76 wide. Sternum 0.52 long, 0.48 wide. Opisthosoma 0.84 long, 0.68 wide. Dorsal of prosoma yellow, clypeal margin with short setae anteriorly, two long setae at anterolateral area of PME. Thoracic median groove fuscous, needle-shaped, cervical groove and radial furrows distinct, pale brown. Clypeus 0.16 high, slightly sloped anteriorly. Six eyes on darkish bases. Eye sizes: ALE 0.06, PLE 0.06, PME 0.05; ALE-ALE 0.01, ALE-PME 0.10, PLE-PLE 0.11, PLE-PME 0.04, AER 0.11, PER 0.17. Major axes of PLE convergent, median axes of PME parallel. Chelicerae brown yellow, fang furrow with 10 promarginal and 5 retromarginal teeth. Endites and labium pale brown. Sternum yellow. Legs pale yellow. Leg measurements: I 5.36 (1.44, 0.28, 1.58, 1.18, 0.88); II 4.22 (1.18, 0.26, 1.18, 0.90, 0.70); III 3.52 (0.98, 0.24, 0.92, 0.80, 0.58); IV 4.68 (1.30, 0.26, 1.34, 1.08, 0.70). Leg formula: I-IV-II-III. Only one spine on femur I. A dorsal spine on each patella distally. Each tibia with 3 trichobothria and 1 or 2 spines. Metatarsi II and III with a finely serrated hairs-comb on ventral base respectively. Each metatarsus with only one trichobothrium. Opisthosoma grey or pale yellow, ovoid, covered with long hairs, without pigment.

Pedipalpal femur spineless. A dorsal spine on patella distally. Tibia subequal to half of femur in length, with 3 dorsal trichobothria and 5 retrolateral spurs, of all tibial spur I is the strongest and asymmetrically furcated. Tarsus longer than tibia slightly, contracted and crinkled at middle, attaching an earlobe-shaped process, 7 or 8 long spines on tarsus distally. Pedipalpal bulb swollen and subround. Embolus wide triangle. Conductor narrow and furcated. Median apophysis absent.

Female. Similar to male in coloration and general features, but body size larger and legs shorter. Total length 1.96. Prosoma 0.84 long, 0.72 wide. Sternum 0.50 long, 0.46 wide. Opisthosoma 1.26 long, 1.10 wide. Clypeus 0.14 high. Six eyes on darkish bases. Eye sizes: ALE 0.06, PLE 0.06, PME 0.05; ALE-ALE 0.02, ALE-PME 0.11, PLE-PLE 0.10, PLE-PME 0.04; AER 0.13, PER 0.15. Chelicerae brown yellow, fang furrow with 9 promarginal and 5 retromarginal teeth. Endites, labium, sternum and legs yellow. Leg measurements: I 5.24 (1.42, 0.28, 1.52, 1.14, 0.88); II 4.16 (1.16, 0.28, 1.14, 0.88, 0.70); III 3.52 (1.00, 0.24, 0.90, 0.80, 0.58); IV 4.66 (1.32, 0.26, 1.32, 1.08, 0.68). Leg formula: I-IV-II-III. The chaetotaxy of each leg resembles in male.

Genital area covered with densely long hairs. Internal genitalia consisting of paired highly contorted spermathecae and sperm ducts, distinctly sclerotized, the atrium small and narrow, and with inverted “W”- shaped anterior margin, lacking modified short hairs.

Distribution. Known only from type locality.
