Bulbophyllum sect. Physometra J.J.Vermeulen, Suksathan & Watthana , sect. nov.
Uniquely identified within the genus Bulbophyllum by the inflated ovary of the apical flower of each inflorescence. Within Asiatic Bulbophyllum it shares the 2-leafed pseudobulbs with section Blepharistes J.J.Verm., Schuit. & De Vogel (2014: 101) and section Lemniscatae Pfitzer 1889 (1888–1889: 179). Next to the inflated ovary, it is distinguished from the first by the small median sepal 2.4–3.0 mm long, as well as by the free lateral sepals (in section Blepharistes 15–20 mm long, and lateral sepals adnate along their lower margins), and from the second by the persistent, thick leaves (deciduous and thin in section Lemniscatae Pfitz. ).
