NOTES: G. Lister (1913b: 41–42) described this species based on a collection from a fungus foray in the Forres district of Scotland from 12–20 Sept. 1912. Of the type locality she wrote “On lichen, on the trunk of a living sycamore ( Acer pseudoplatanus L.) five feet from the ground. Altyre woods, near Forres. Only a single specimen consisting of a cluster of five sporangia, was found of this species”. Box BM 3134, labelled “Type specimen” is in BM and we consider it to be the holotype as it is clearly listed in the publication. There are also two prepared slides (1, 2) of the same collection and with reference to notebook XXXII: 152. There are notes and a photograph of “Cowdor Castle from S.W.”, apparently visited during the foray in this notebook (XXXII: 152–153). The species L. insessum “perched”, is characterized by its minute sessile sporocarps or short plasmodiocarps and has been transferred to the genus Diacheopsis by Ing (1965).
