FEMALE. (Specimens measured. South Africa: Holotype, 2 paratypes and 5 non-type specimens)
Dorsum. Dorsal shield 352(319–380) [358] long and 201(185–217) [199] wide; reticulate. Setae j1 21(19–24) [21], j3 25(21–32) [23], j4 20(16–25) [19], j5 21(18–25) [19], j6 28(23–34) [28], J2 37(30–47) [38], J5 19(16–21) [20], z2 22(19–27) [22], z3 28(26–33) [29], z4 31(28–40) [29], z5 24(20–30) [23], z6 29(23–39) [29], Z4 46(41–59) [43], Z5 47(38–57) [45], s4 34 (30–41) [30], s6 37 (31–44) [35], S2 42 (39–50) [43], S4 45 (40–54) [42], S5 40 (34–49) [40], r3 26(25–28) [26], R1 32(30–35) [35]. Setae thick, smooth, thorn-like, sharp-tipped, inserted on small tubercles; except J5 and Z5 serrate; R1 usually inserted on dorsal shield; in some specimens, one of the R1 setae is inserted on the membrane.
Peritreme. Extending almost to level of j1.
Venter. Sternal shield smooth, with 2 pairs of setae (ST3 inserted on membrane); posterior margin slightly concave; distances between ST1-ST3 63(56–69) [63], ST2-ST2 47(41–51) [45]. Genital shield smooth; distance between ST5-ST5 57(54–60) [54]. Ventrianal shield smooth, vase-shaped, constricted laterally at level of preanal pores, anterior margin straight, 113(105–123) [109] long, 66(62–72) [70] wide at level of ZV2, 67(60–73) [70] wide at level of anus; setae JV2 and JV3 present; round preanal pores posterior to and in longitudinal line with JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped.
Chelicera. Movable digit 22(19–23) long, with 1 tooth; fixed digit 22(17–23) long, with 3 teeth and a pilus dentilis.
Spermatheca. Calyx funnel-shaped, 22(15–31) [20] long; atrium small, c-shaped.
Legs. Sharp-tipped macroseta: St IV 23 (22–24) [23]. Chaetotaxy: genu II: 2-2/1, 2/0-1; genu III: 1-2/1, 2/ 0-1.
MALE. (Specimens measured. South Africa: 1 paratype)
Dorsum. Dorsal shield and setal patterns as in female, 253 long and 139 wide. Setae j1 14, j3 20, j4 17, j5 17, j6 19, J2 23, J5 11, z2 18, z3 21, z4 21, z5 19, z6 19, Z4 29, Z5 28, s4 20, s6 22, S2 26, S4 25, S5 25, r3 20, R1 19.
Peritreme. Extending almost to level of j1.
Venter. Ventrianal shield subtriangular, mostly smooth with few striae anteriorly and around anus, 94 long, 122 wide at the anterior corners; with 4 pairs of preanal setae (JV1-JV3 and ZV2), 3 pairs of lyrifissures, all laterad of ZV2 and 1 pair of round preanal pores posteromesad to JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped.
Spermatodactyl. Spindle shaped from a lateral view or slightly curved from a lateral view, shaft 19 long.
Legs. Sharp-tipped macroseta: St IV 18. Chaetotaxy of genua II and III same as in female.
Specimens examined. South Africa: Holotype female, 1 paratype female associated with Ceroplastes mimosae on Acacia karroo, Pienaarspoort near Pretoria, Gauteng Province, 3-I-1963, E.A. Ueckermann, C.J. Cilliers; 1 paratype female associated with eriophid galls on Prunus sp., Barberton, Mpumalanga Province, 22-XI-1962, P. le S. Milstein; 1 paratype male from Acacia arabica, Punda Maria, Kruger National Park, Limpopo Province, 7-I-1964, M.K.P. Smith Meyer; 1 female from an unidentified tree, Kloof near Durban, Kwazulu/ Natal, 13-IX-1966, G.G. van der Merwe; 2 females from A. karroo , 80 km from Kuruman to Vryburg, Northern Cape Province, 10-X-1979, E.A. Ueckermann; 1 female from Acacia mellifera , 25 km from Kuruman to Hotazel, Northern Cape Province, Northern Cape Province, 3-X-1979, E.A. Ueckermann; 1 female from Albizia harveyi, Komatipoort , Mpumalanga Province, 5-II-1985, E.A. Ueckermann; all deposited at NCA-PPRI.
