Type:— MADAGASCAR. Central Madagascar , [Richard] Baron 436, (holotype Herb. K), not available for examination online, recorded as “Type” by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 54), here corrected to holotype ; (isotype Herb. P barcode P00374126 !, available for examination online at http://coldb.mnhn.fr/catalognumber/mnhn/p/p00374126) .

Nomenclatural notes:— Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 54) recorded the type of the name Kitchingia panduriformis , basionym of Kalanchoe panduriformis , as “Baron 436”. In the protologue of the name Kitchingia panduriformis, Baker (1883: 142) indeed mentioned a single gathering, “ Baron 436!”, from “Central Madagascar ”. This specimen is not available for examination online.

Herb. P holds a [Richard] Baron 436 specimen with barcode P 00374126 that is labelled “Fragment du Type ”. It was purchased from Herb. K in June 1889, which is the date provided by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 54), and should not be construed as the collecting date. The material, enclosed in a paper capsule attached to a herbarium mounting sheet, consists of two flowers and a small section of peduncle, and is indeed a fragment only.

Taxonomic notes:— Kitchingia panduriformis and Kalanchoe panduriformis are included in the synonymy of Kalanchoe campanulata ( Baker 1881: 269) Baillon (1885: 469) (see Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau 1995: 54–58 and Descoings 2003: 150).

Kalanchoe campanulata is included in Kalanchoe subg. Pubescentes .

K), not available for examination online, recorded as “Type” by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 55), here corrected to holotype ; (isotype Herb. P barcode P00374128 !, available for examination online at http://coldb.mnhn.fr/catalognumber/mnhn/p/p00374128) .
