Janeirona aurea Sampaio & Campos sp. nov.

( Figs. 26–29 View FIGURE 26 View FIGURE 27 View FIGURE 28 View FIGURE 29 , 43 View FIGURE 43 )

Etymology. The epithet refers to the ventral color of the body. Latin: aureus, golden.

Holotype ( Figs. 26–29 View FIGURE 26 View FIGURE 27 View FIGURE 28 View FIGURE 29 ). Male , here designated. BRAZIL, São Paulo: (Araras, -22.3350, -47.4942). Labels: Araras - SP. / 10-XI-83 / E. K. M. Manente / coleta manual // IAA. Deposited in: DZUP. GoogleMaps

Diagnosis. Body length: 17.6 mm. Maximum head width across the mandibular plates less than half the head width across the eyes; inner margins of mandibular plates anterior to clypeus straight; antennomeres I subcylindric, distal half surpassing the mandibular plates; labium attaining the middle of metasternum; metasternum transversely arched. Pygophore ventral rim v-shaped; posterolateral angles with apices acute in dorsal view; apical branch the parameres’ head single, weakly emarginate.

Description. Body brown; antennae, labium, legs and venter predominantly ocher ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 ). Head slightly wider than long; maximum head width across the mandibular plates less than half the head width across the eyes; posterior margins of the eyes forming an angle of less than 45º with the longitudinal body axis; each mandibular plate wider than clypeus, with the outer margin convex, the inner margin straight anterior to clypeus; apex of mandibular plates acute; antennomeres I with distal half surpassing the mandibular plates; proportion of antennomeres: I>II<III≅IV<V ( Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 , A); labium attaining the middle of metasternum ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 , B), without intercalary segment ( Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 , B); proportion of labiomeres: I<II>III>IV.

Thorax. Pronotum twice as wide as long; anterior and lateral margins shallowly concave ( Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 , A). Lateral half of the corial posterior margin concave, apical angle almost attaining the middle of connexival segment VI ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 , A). Metasternum transversely arched.

Abdomen. Medial portion of urosternites yellowish and unpunctured ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 , B); trichobothria lateral to spiracles.

Male. Measurements (n=1): Total length 17.60; width of abdomen 7.50; head length 2.00; width 3.00; pronotum length 3.20; width 7.60; scutellum length 6.40; width 4.70; length of antennomeres: I 1.50, II 1.00, III 2.50, IV 2.50, V 3.50; length of labiomeres: I 1.10, Int. 0.10, II 1.80, III 1.30, IV 1.00.

Genitalia ( Fig. 28 View FIGURE 28 ). Pygophore. Lateral margins diverging towards the posterolateral angles, slightly convex; dorsal wall length on midline 1.3 times longer than segment X; dorsal rim concave over segment X; posterolateral angles dorsally excavated with lateral margins convex, apices acute and angled to each other ( Fig. 28 View FIGURE 28 , A, B, E); ventral rim v-shaped, slightly sinuous with setae ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 , E). Segment X with dense setae along the posterior margin; apex cone-shaped, posteriorly projected ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 , A–C, F). Parameres laterally sinuous; head of parameres emarginated, forming two short, rounded projections ( Fig. 29 View FIGURE 29 , D–F). Proximal thecal width 1/3 of the maximum thecal width in lateral view ( Fig. 29 View FIGURE 29 , A); apical lobes of the dorsal process of endosoma dilated and subrectangular, with the apical margin sinuous ( Fig. 29 View FIGURE 29 , A–C).

Female. Unknown.

Comments. Similar to Janeirona insignis and Janeirona costalimai . Differs from J. insignis by the ocher color, not dilated antennomeres I, pygophore posterolateral angles with acute apices angled to each other, and the head of parameres emarginate. Differs from J. costalimai by the subcylindric antennomeres II, metasternum transversely arched, and labium not surpassing the middle of the metasternum. Differs from all species in the genus by the ocher ventral color.
