Type citation:—“Anamallay Hills”, “ 3 to 5000 feet ”

Type:— INDIA. Anamallay [Anamalai] Hills, 3500 to 6000 ft., 1861, Beddome s.n. (lectotype K 000683313!, designated here).

Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:—For his new species Impatiens viscosa, Beddome (1859) cited the type information as “Anamallay Hills”, “ 3 to 5000 feet ”. The type information implies that he might have collected more than one specimen from Anamalai hills ranging from 3000 ‒ 5000 ft. At present, only one specimen collected by Beddome from Anamalai hills is extant at K (K000683313) and is chosen here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
