Type citation:—“ Neilgherries on moist rocks by the road side near Sispara. Munro and Gough.”

Type:— INDIA. Sispara, Koondah Ghat, March 1838, Herb. Wight, Gough 449 (lectotype K 000694971!, designated here).

Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Sispara , Herb. Wight, [Munro / Gough?] s.coll. s.n. ( K000694970 !) ; Sispara, Herb. Wight, Gough s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7643).

Distribution:— India, endemic and rare (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:— Wight (1839) described Impatiens munronii based on two gatherings from Sispara, Nilgiri by Gough and Munro. Pertaining to the specification given in protologue, three herbarium specimens were traced (K000694970, K000694971 and MH7643). Of these, the specimen K000694971 agrees better with the information given in the protologue, contains dissected flower parts and also the complete illustration of the species pasted on the sheet by Gough. Therefore, K000694971 specimen is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
