Material examined and dissected
MEXICO, Guerrero, Acapulco , 23 May 1968, three specimens 5/4 (#1) to 4/ 3 mm preserved [leg. W.G. Evans], identified as Onchidiidae [unknown identifier], ( CASIZ 079295 ) .
Description of new specimens
The three specimens are sexually immature because the posterior genital organs are absent. They are briefly mentioned and described here because they represent an interesting new record for Hoffmannola , i.e. on the Pacific coast of Mexico, south of the Gulf of California. Because they are immature, they have not been identified, although they might be young specimens of H. hansi .
Dorsal notum and ventral surface of preserved animals whitish. Dorsal notum smooth. Visceral cavity loosely divided by a weak, short septum. Penial sheath ∼ 300 µm in diameter and 2 mm in length. No caecum and no concretions in penial sheath. Deferent duct nearly straight. Diameter of deferent duct is ∼ 100 µm. Deferent duct travels directly distally toward the male opening, after entrance in the penial sheath. Anchor of weak retractor muscle at the distal end of penial sheath; insertion not established.
