Heteroglymma heteroglymmoides (Günther) , comb. n.

Apotomorhamphus heteroglymmoides Günther, 1938: 37–39 View in CoL . Type locality: Makale

Apotomorhamphus femoratus Voss, 1940: 286 View in CoL . Type locality: Nanggala, Rantepao. Synonymy by Günther, 1943: 118. Heteroglymma femoratum (Voss) , comb.n.

Description. Holotype, male, in somewhat teneral condition. ( Fig. 14a View FIGURE 14 ). Length. Pronotum plus elytron 5.65 mm. Integument dark ferruginous, femora orange-ferruginous, largely covered with appressed, bluish-grey scales. Head with deep curved furrow separating swollen rostral base; forehead with short median furrow; vertex subglabrous, with sparse scales, laterally with shallow furrows. Eyes weakly asymmetrically convex, slightly drawn posteriad. Rostrum 1.25 X longer than wide, sides subparallel; dorsum in basal half with shallow median impression. Antenna. Funicle with article 2 1.5 X longer than article 1. Pronotum subglobose, 1.03 X longer than wide; with coarse punctures, each puncture with curved seta, interspaces with round appressed scales. Elytra 1.15 X as long as wide; behind middle sublaterally with indistinct swellings; densely covered with bluish-grey scales, punctures subglabrous; intervals transversely corrugate; with inconspicuous rows of transparent, subrecumbent, narrow scales. Legs. Protibia ( Fig. 14b View FIGURE 14 ). Genitalia. Penis ( Fig. 14c View FIGURE 14 ). Intraspecific variation. Length. Pronotum plus elytron 5.60–7.00 mm. Color of integument as in holotype, or, black except femora dark ferruginous; grey scaling of older specimens often abraded.

Material examined. Type specimens. Apotomorhamphus heteroglymmoides Günther , holotype, by monotypy, male: INDONESIA, SW-Sulawesi, Makale, “35”, 1939; labels ( Fig. 14d View FIGURE 14 ); condition:teneral, formerly pinned through right elytron, left mesotarsus missing; genitalia in glycerol in microtube; DNA extraction ARC7287 View Materials (sequencing failed) ( SMTD) . Other material examined: S-Sulawesi: 1 ex ( ARC3409 View Materials , EMBL # LN866322), Gn. Sampuna, Pc. Palopo , S02° 56.539´E120° 05.320´to S02° 56.545´E120° 05.595´, 1038–1101 m, 02-V-2013 ( SMNK) GoogleMaps ; 36 exx, 15 km W Palopo, 11-19.VIII-1990 ( ARC in SMNK); 4 exx, 15 km W Palopo, 200–300 m, 12-IX-1997 ( ARC in SMNK); 6 exx, Pc. Palopo , 620–780 m, 14-IX-1997 ( ARC in SMNK) .

Notes. DNA was extracted from the holotype, but only very few of the sequence reads obtained were from the weevil mitogenome, thus not allowing a full reconstruction. The few fragments mapped onto a cox1 sequence of this species appeared to be consistent with the identification. The type of Apotomorhamphus femoratus Voss could not be located, but it was examined by Günther (1943) who established the synonymy. The descriptions of both names agree well and the type localities are in the same region of Tanah Toraja, so the synonymy of Apotomorhamphus femoratus Voss is well justified. Specimens very similar to this species from Lake Poso and Palu show some morphological differences and need to be examined in detail to determine if they represent a related, separate species.
