Type:— RUSSIA. Siberia , Zabaikalsky Territory , Kyrinsky District , Sokhondinsky Nature Reserve, 49°37′ N, 111°02′ E, 1747 m alt., surroundings of kordon on Bukukun Creek bank, rock-field in Pinus sibirica forest, on rocks ; 28 Aug. 2011, Czernyadjeva 37-11 (holotype: LE) .

Note:— This species was previously known only from Russia ( Ignatova et al. 2016; Sofronova et al. 2019; Ellis et al. 2021), the present report represents a new addition to the moss flora of China. In China, it was collected on bare rock under a larch forest canopy, associated with lichens. This species may be confused with Hedwigia stellata and H. sinica , the differences between them are discussed under H. sinica .
