Etymology. The specific name is an adjective from the Latin word foveata (depression, cavity), and refers to the retrolateral depression in the tibia.

Diagnosis. This species can be separated from other congeneric species by the male palpal tibia with a retrolateral depression and the shapes of VTA and RTA. The female is similar to that of H. menglunensis sp. nov., but can be distinguished by the shape of copulatory ducts of the epigynum and the abdominal patterns.

Description. Male (holotype): Total length 5.80. Prosoma 2.80 long, 1.80 wide; opisthosoma 3.10 long, 1.85 wide. Carapace light brown with grayish white scales. Ocular area grayish black with grayish white scales. Eye measurements: AME 0.08; ALE 0.23; PME 0.16; PLE 0.20; AME-AME 0.14; AME-ALE 0.08; PME-PME 0.28; PME-PLE 0.37. Eye row width measurement: I 0.30, II 0.66, III 1.20, IV 0.56. Clypeus height 0.46. Sternum yellow, marginally brown; chelicera, labium and endites brown, chelicera with 2 pro- (1 large, 1 small) and 1 small retromarginal teeth. Legs grayish black with long spines. Leg measurements: I 10.55 (3.00, 3.80, 2.50, 1.25); II 9.25 (2.70, 3.20, 2.30, 1.05); III 7.20 (2.00, 2.60, 1.80, 0.80); IV 7.50 (2.10, 2.60, 1.90, 0.90), leg formula: 1243. Opisthosoma wide anteriorly, sharp caudally; dorsally yellow; laterally with grayish white stripes; ventrally grayish black.

Palp ( Figs 3 B–D, 5A–B). VTA digitiform, RTA twisted; tibia with a large cavity-shaped depression retrolaterally, the distal part of median apophysis wide; conductor wide.

Female (paratype, IZCAS-Ar. 18981): Total length 6.70. Prosoma 3.20 long, 2.50 wide; opisthosoma 3.50 long, 1.80 wide. Body color darker than in male. Eye measurements: AME 0.09; ALE 0.23; PME 0.16; PLE 0.20; AME-AME 0.14; AME-ALE 0.07; PME-PME 0.30; PME-PLE 0.40. Eye row width measurement: I 0.31, II 0.73, III 1.30, IV 0.60. Clypeus height 0.54. Legs brown, leg measurements: I 11.40 (3.70, 4.10, 2.40, 1.20); II 10.50 (3.20, 4.00, 2.30, 1.00); III 7.85 (2.30, 2.90, 1.85, 0.80); IV 8.00 (2.50, 2.70, 2.00, 0.80), leg formula: 1243. Opisthosoma dorsally grayish brown with grayish black stripes, ventrally with a grayish black marking mesally.

Epigynum ( Figs 4 C–D, 5C–D). Epigynal posterior sclerotized edge thick, copulatory openings at the lateral edges; copulatory ducts thick, twisted, spermathecae globular.

Variation. Total length: 3 5.00–5.90 (n=10); Ƥ 5.80–6.80 (n=15). Distribution. China (Yunnan).
