Gomphonema microcapitatum Kulikovskiy, Kociolek & Solak , sp. nov. ( Figs 237–243 View FIGURES 228–255 )

Valves clavate, swollen at the center. Headpole is cuneate, basal part is elongately cuneate, gradually narrowing to the footpole. Central inflations are slightly wider then the headpole. Length: 13.3–25.3 μm, breadth: 5.3–6.7 μm. Striae parallel to slightly radiate in center, more strongly radiate at the footpole, 12–13 in 10 μm. Axial area narrow. Central area small, one striae in central part is shorter. Stigma isolated and distinct.

Type: — RUSSIA: Lake Baikal, small pool near bay, detritus on sand, 52º 27.042’ N, 106º 53.215’ E, M. Kulikovskiy, 14 July 2011 (holotype: IBIW! slide no 18606 = Fig. 238 View FIGURES 228–255 ).

Etymology: —Epithet refers to the similarity with G. capitatum in valve shape and very small size.

Obsernations: —This species is distinguished from other species of the G. truncatum-capitatum complex by its shape and very small size.
