Specimens examined: — COLOMBIA. SANTANDER: Suratá ; Río La Hoja , prepared from Simulium sp. larvae, D. Baron, COL7 –Tr24, Tr26 .

Comments:— Genistellospora nubila has been reported once from Costa Rica, in the hindgut of Simuliidae larvae. The species is characterized by the asymmetric and robust trichospores ( Lichtwardt 1997). The Colombian specimens had thalli about 145–440 μm length, with a holdfast 6.5–12.5 μm diameter, and ovoid trichospores with a robust appearance, 30–47 × 11–16 μm, attached eccentrically to the generative cell, with several appendages. Zygospores were not found.

Specimens examined: — COLOMBIA. SANTANDER: Tona ; Río Dos Aguas , prepared from Simulium sp. larvae, D. Baron, COL18 –Tr57 .

Comments: — G. tropicalis was described from Simulium goeldii larvae, from Amazonia, Brazil ( Alencar et al. 2003). Our specimen includes thalli up to 315 μm long with holdfast 6.6 μm diameter. Trichospores ovoid 13.5–19 × 4.3–7 μm without collar. Zygospores not found. It was found in a sole site (COL18) from just one black fly.
