Flowering time: — April–July(–August).
Habitat: — Water meadows, by melting snow patches on screes, steppe, limestone rocky places, 1900–2900 m.
Distribution: — Turkey (Central and East Anatolia), Caucasia ( Govaerts 2015). Irano-Turanian element.
Note: — Rix (1984) and Zarrei et al. (2007) considered G. glacialis to be a synonym of G. fragifera ( Peterson et al. 2009) . Peterson et al. (2009) showed that molecular data can differentiate G. glacialis from G. fragifera . Gagea glacialis is considered as a likely hybridogenous unit, closely related to G. fragifera . Gagea fragifera and G. tenuissima are discussed as putative parental species giving rise to G. glacialis ( Peterson et al. 2009, Peruzzi et al. 2011b).
