Ficus morantensis Britton View in CoL in Fawcett & Rendle (1914: 51)
Lectotype (designated here): — JAMAICA. St. Thomas , Morant Point, March 1903, Britton 4115 (lectotype: NY00025291 !; isolectotypes: BM000993294 !, NY00025290 !, NY00025292 !).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not mention the herbarium in which the type of Britton 4115 was allocated. According to the code (Art. 7.11, note 2, ex. 13), when the herbarium was not mentioned, all specimens of that gathering are syntypes and, therefore, a lectotype must be designated. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited as type (in the work as “ holotype ”) material deposited in the NY herbarium, however, this cannot be considered a lectotypification because it was published after 2001 and the “designated here” or a similar phrase was not used (Art. 7.11). Here we designate the material NY00025291 as the lectotype because it contains branches, stipules, leaves and syconia .
Taxonomical note:— Ficus morantensis was synonymized by Berg (2007) and Ibarra-Manríquez et al. (2012) as F. pertusa .
