Pinnotheres byssomiae Say, 1818: 451 View in CoL .
Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♂, CCDB 6434 View Materials , Ubatuba, Ilha das Couves , coll. D. Alves, i.2019 .
Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Florida), Cuba, Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), and Argentina ( Melo 1996, 1998, 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Alves et al. 2012a).
Remarks. Previous records to São Paulo include Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2012a). This species presents a truncated taxonomic history (see Almeida et al. 2010 for details), since it was previously referred as Fabia insularis ( Melo, 1971) , Pinnotheres emiliai ( Martins & D’Incao 1996) , and other combinations. It is always found associated with bivalves of the genera Glycymeris and Anadara ( Melo 2008) . Sequence accession number (GenBank): CCDB 6434—16S ( MT849289 View Materials ) (present study).
