Materials examined. 6 ƤƤ, 2 deutonymph ƤƤ, 1 3 from moist moss from near a brook, 40°17'29'' N, 39°35'29'' E, 1818 m, Köse Mountain, 14 VII 2009; ZMAU.

Distribution. U.S.A. ( Summers, 1957b; Summers & Price, 1961) and Turkey (this paper).

Remarks. Eustigmaeus lacuna , a new record for the Turkish fauna, can easily be distinguished by the marginal incisions on the dorsal shields. This species was defined from the deutonymph female by Summers (1957b) and then adult female and male were recorded by Summers and Price (1961). The U.S.A. specimens were recorded from litter under Liliaceae and Salix sp. and mossy soil ( Summers 1957b; Summers & Price 1961). The Turkish specimens were collected from moist moss near a brook.

Tarsus IV has seven setae in the adult female according to Summers & Price (1961), but the Turkish specimens’ tarsus IV has eight setae including solenidion ω. In the type specimens, setae sce are the shortest and setae c 2 are almost the same length as setae c 1 ( Summers & Price, 1961), but in the Turkish specimens c 2 the shortest setae. Despite these differences, we consider the Turkish and U.S.A. specimens to be conspecific.

Setae d 2 are located on isolated small shields in the Turkish deutonymphal specimens whereas those of Summers’ (1957b) specimen is on the hysterosomal shield. The presence of discrete lateral shields on the deutonymph shows that these shields incompletely fuse with the median shield after the final moult ( Summers & Price 1961). Despite the differences in the dorsal shields between the Turkish and U.S.A. deutonymphs, we consider them the same species.

Distribution. Iran and Turkey (Doġan et al. 2003; Kara 2005; Doġan 2007; Erman et al. 2007; Akyol 2007; Kazaklı 2008; Akbari et al. 2010).

Remarks. This species can be distinguished from other known species by the following combination of characters: propodosomal shield pointed anteriorly, eyes and fossettes on dorsal shields present, endopodal shields completely fused and reticulated, and dorsal body setae bushy, shorter than distances between their successive bases, leg femur II bearing five setae. In the specimens collected from Afyonkarahisar and İzmir ( Turkey) the dorsal setae have a hyaline sheath distally ( Kara 2005; Akyol 2007); however, in our specimens such a structure was not observed. Our specimens exhibit all characters of type specimens.
