Eupithecia sutiliata Christoph, 1876 View in CoL
Eupithecia sutiliata Christoph, 1876 , Horae Societatis Entomologicae Rossicae 12: 262, tab. 7, fig. 34. Lectotype ♂ (ZISP, examined), [ Iran]: Schahrud.
Eupithecia aequata Staudinger, 1892 View in CoL , Deutsche Entomologische Zeitung, Iris 5 (1): 256. Syntypes 3♀ (coll. O. Staudinger in MNHU, examined), Central Asia [ Kyrgyzstan]: Transalai; Alai; [ Uzbekistan]: Margelan (synonymised in Mironov, 1991).
This species was described on the basis of two specimens. One specimen (the lectotype) lacks an abdomen, and was documented and pictured in plate 7, fig. 34 of “ Horae Societatis Entomologicae Rossicae ” (1876). We illustrate here this type specimen and its original labels ( Fig 17 View FIGURES 17 – 19 ). The paratype (paralectotype) from the collection of Christoph is deposited in BMNH. This species has been found in Greece and from the Caucasus and Transcaucasia in the west to Central Asia including Mongolia in the east. There is a large series of this variable species from many localities in the Caucasus, Central Asian countries and also Mongolia in the collection of ZISP (Saint Petersburg). This species was recorded for Mongolia by Vojnits (1977) as E. aequata Staudinger. A View in CoL short description and illustration of the female genitalia of E. aequata View in CoL was given in de Laever’s publication (1956). Mongolia (aimags): Bayan-Khongor, Govi-Altai, Khovd, Umnugovi.
