EOO: 52.023, 713 km ². AOO: 44 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia trunciflora has a distribution in five states of Mexico, mainly on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, from 39 to 2,040 m elev. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B, as well as the area of occupancy (AOO) would likely exceed the thresholds of Endangered category if the remaining habitat available is taken in account. There are 10 to 11 known locations based on 11 records, and all of them have different ongoing threats. The occurring biomes are the Humid Tropical Forest and the Humid Montane Forest. The habitat in some regions such as Veracruz and San Luis Potosi, is represented by conserved forests, with a low rate of degradation. However, in the state of Puebla, Chiapas, and Tabasco it was found in remnants of forests with a high impact of human activities such as extensive agriculture and urban development ( CONABIO 2018) from which is inferred a continuing decline of habitat quality. The species occurs at least in one protected area (Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra Gorda). Therefore, Eugenia trunciflora is classified as Least Concern (LC).
