EOO: 56,533.444 km ². AOO: 48 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia rubella is distributed only in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, and Guatemala ( Barrie 2020, WCSP, 2020). The occurrence biome is the Humid Montane Forest, from 950 to 1,550 m elev. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and potentially its area of occupancy (AOO) based on the habitat available, fairly exceed the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. There are more than 10 known locations, considering based on the 16 collections from southern Mexico to Guatemala. In Mexico, only three collection records are known in three different localities in the state of Chiapas (municipalities of Ocozocuatla de Espinoza, Oxchuc and La Trinidad). The conservation status of the tropical forests in that region is under protection by government agencies, and international cooperation has been important for the study and conservation of the tropical forests of the Maya Biosphere Reserve and the Mesoamerican biological corridor. Therefore, Eugenia rubella is rated as Least Concern (LC).
