EOO: 8 km ². AOO: 8 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia bajaverapazana is known for Mexico, but also occurs in Guatemala ( WCSP 2020). There is only one record in Mexico, collected in the state of Chiapas in the humid montane forest that is part of the “Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve” and in Guatemala it is known with a collection in the department of Baja Verapaz in the Biotopo El Quetzal conservation area (INE-SEMARNAP 2000a, CECON/USAC 2016). The habitat is considered well preserved, having a low rate of degradation according to CONABIO (2018). In addition, the area is known for its enormous biodiversity ( Breedlove 1981, 1986, Castillo-Campos & Navare 1992, Martinez 1994, Levy-Tacher et al. 2006). The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) fall within the thresholds of Critically Endangered category under the criterion B. However, Eugenia bajaverapazana occurs only in well protected area, and it is assumed that is not under any major threats or continuing decline. Therefore, Eugenia bejaverapazana is classified here as Least Concern (LC), as does not meet all required criteria for a threatened category.
