3. Euconnus scydmaenoides Franz View in CoL

Euconnus scydmaenoides Franz 1967:700 View in CoL , fig. 70.

Euconnus ranchograndensis O’Keefe View in CoL , new name, for E. scydmaenoides Franz 1989:45 View in CoL . Etymology: The name was derived from Rancho Grande, the type locality.

Franz described the first E. scydmaenoides View in CoL based on a single male collected from Sierra de Garavito in the Peruvian Andes near Quillabamba ( Franz 1967: 700), and the second E. scydmaenoides View in CoL based on two males and a female collected from Parque Nacional Rancho Grande, Venezuela ( Franz 1989:45). The senior E. scydmaenoides View in CoL is 3.00 mm long and 1.00 mm wide, antennomeres III, IV, VI, and VII are elongate, antennomeres VIII–X are as long as wide, and the apex of the aedeagus is pointed ( Franz 1967:702, fig. 70). The junior E. scydmaenoides View in CoL is 2.30–2.35 mm long and 0.85 mm wide, antennomeres III, IV, VI, and VII are as long as wide, antennomeres VIIIX are transverse, and the aedeagal apex is elongate, narrowed, and terminated by a knoblike structure ( Franz 1989:59, fig. 82). I propose E. ranchograndensis View in CoL as a replacement name for E. scydmaenoides Franz 1989 View in CoL .
