Range: —Hispaniola; mountains from southern Mexico to the Guyana highlands and south to Bolivia ( CH?, CO, LP, SC).

Ecology: —Very common; terrestrial, scrambling or scandent in humid areas, along river banks, along trails, on steep slopes, and along roadsides; 1700–3500 m.

Notes: —Blades 4-or 5-pinnate, indeterminate, to 3 m long; ultimate segments dichotomously lobed, slender, with 1 or 2 veins per lobe. Variable in pubescense.
