Dryopteris hendersonii (Bedd.) C.Chr. View in CoL ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 )

Basionym: Lastrea hendersonii Bedd. (1876) View in CoL .

Type :— INDIA. Khasya , Shillong Hill, Henderson s.n. (not found at K). Neotype (designated by Zhang & Zhang 2012): Lastrea hendersonii

Bedd., Suppl. Ferns S. Ind.: t. 377. 1876.

Voucher specimens examined:— VIETNAM. Lam Dong Province, Lac Duong District, Da Chais Commune, Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, Mt. Bidoup, the valley behind the camping site, 2017 m, 12.067° N, 108.650° E, 23 June 2018, C.- W. Chen Wade5094 ( SGN!, TAIF!, SING!).

Additional specimens examined:— INDIA. Meghalaya, West Khasi Hills District, Mairang, 28 February 2009, C. R. Fraser-Jenkins FN92 (TAIF-319305!). TAIWAN. Nantou County, Mt. Chinkanshu, 22 July 2016, P.- F. Lu 29623 (TAIF-496043!).

Distribution:—Previously known from India, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Thailand, Borneo, Philippines China, Taiwan, and Japan.

Ecology:—In Vietnam, this species was found in mossy broad-leaved primary forest. There it grows on slopes with shades and moisture.

Note:—This species was formerly placed in the genus Nothoperanema (Tagawa) Ching. Zhang & Zhang (2012) redefined a broadly-circumscribed Dryopteris based on molecular phylogenetics and it is now included in Dryopteris subg. Nothoperanema sect. Nothoperanema . In Vietnam, four species of Dryopteris subg. Nothoperanema are currently known and Dryopteris hendersonii is the only member of sect. Nothoperanema . Morphologically, it is most similar to the species of sect. Diacalpe including D. annamensis (Tagawa) Li Bing Zhang (2012: 1210) and D. pseudocaenopteris (Kunze) Li Bing Zhang (2012: 1209) but can be delimitated from them by having superior (above sori) indusia.
