World distribution. Argentina, Peru and Chile.
Chilean distribution. From Tarapacá to Magallanes region ( Fig. 39 View FIGURE 39 ).
Altitudinal range. From coastal to highland ecosystems (50– 3,000 m.a.s.l.).
Biology and notes. Dolichogyna nigripes is associated with M. planipes in the northern Chiloé Island (Smith- Ramírez et al., 2005). This flower fly has also been recorded on Chrysanthemum sp. (Patricia Medina, CSP record; Fig. 35 View FIGURES 35–38 ). Other aspects about its biology and ecology remain unknown.
Conservation status. LC; EOO = 485,601 km 2;AOO = 44 km 2, nine subpopulations and ten localities (probably these last ones be more).
