Type:— BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Caldas , 18 November 1854, G. A. Lindberg 164 (Holotype: S07-4316 !; Isotype: BR0000005845156 !) .
Notes: —This is a well delimited species described by O’Donell (1952), but which has been overlooked since then. It was recently rediscovered during a taxonomic review of Merremia s.l. in São Paulo State (Petrongari 2016), from where material had usually been misidentified as Merremia cissoides ( Lamarck 1793: 462) Hallier f. (1893: 552) [≡ Distimake cissoides (Lam.) A.R. Simões & Staples (2017: 573) ].
