Diagnosis. This species is very similar to Dicronychus quadrimaculatus sp. n. in general shape and colour, but it can be separated by the pronotum with punctures of two different sizes.

Description. Female (Fig. 50). Bicoloured; black, elytra with four variably developed or expanded yellow or yellowish spots, two subhumeral and two subapical; antennae blackish, legs yellowish, with femora generally darkened; covered with dense, yellow-golden pubescence.

Frons convex between eyes, moderately impressed before anterior margin, latter directed downwards, curved, at middle nearly straight; punctures fine, deep, approximately of same size with very short shiny intervals.

Antennae reaching posterior angles of pronotum, very slightly serrated from third antennomere on; second subcylindrical, less than twice as long as wide and shorter than third; third to tenth subconical, very slender, 3–3.5× longer than wide, last as long as penultimate, subellipsoidal.

Pronotum 1.1× wider than long, widest at middle, strongly convex, sides strongly arcuate, equally converging from middle to base and apex, posterior angles, truncate, not divergent, shortly carinate; lateral margin apparent, reaching anterior margin; puncturation uniformly distributed, punctures of two different sizes, larger punctures more or less regularly mixed with slightly smaller punctures, intervals very fine and shiny.

Scutellum heart-shaped, as long as wide, slightly emarginate at middle of base, flat, finely punctured.

Elytra 2.5× longer than and as wide as pronotum, convex, oval, widest at middle; striae well marked and distinctly punctured; interstriae flat, with wrinkled and punctured surface.

Bursa copulatrix sclerified as in Fig. 106, intermedial piece as in Fig 107.

Claws with a moderate expansion in first half.

Male (Fig. 51). Similar to female in general shape and colour, but slightly smaller, with longer antennae slightly exceeding posterior angles of pronotum, more clearly serrate from third antennomere on; sides of pronotum more distinctly narrowing from middle to base.

Aedeagus as in Fig. 108 (length 1.12 mm).

Size. Length 5–8.4 mm; width 1.5–2.6 mm.

Etymology. The species is dedicated to the late Elena Leonidovna Gurjeva, Russian taxonomist of Elateridae .
