( Fig. 150)
Description. Forewing length about 4.8 mm. Colour stramineous, margins of vertex and middle of pronotum tinted with orange; forewings colourless. Facial carinae clearly separated. Male anal segment with broad lateral processes. Genital styles oval, apex rounded; proximal dorsal process broad, distal dorsal process with base slightly swollen, apical part slender; at the inside near the base with a broad and flat process bearing bristles at the tip. Apical portion of aedeagus large, slightly curved ventrad apically; the left margin blade-like; several dorsal, rounded projections near tip.
Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (niveus, -a, -um = snow white).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 4.8 mm), INDONESIA: PAPUA, labels: 1) NEW GUINEA: NETH./ HOLLANDIA AREA / W. Sentani, Cyclops / Mts., 150–250 m./ June 23. 1959 2) T. C. Maa / Collector / BISHOP ( BPBM).
Distribution. New Guinea.
Diagnosis. Dichotropis nivea is indistinguishable externally from D. brevis sp. nov., D. straatmani sp. nov., and D. peregrina sp. nov., all three also found in New Guinea. The males can be recognized by the broad and flat inner process of the genital styles, and by the apical portion of the aedeagus curving ventrad at the tip.
