Diagnosis. MALE. Distance between posterior margin of eye and posterior margin of head 1.1 × longitudinal diameter of eye. Clypeus flat, anteriorly with two tubercles. Mandible apically bidentate, subapical tooth small. Notaulus and parapsidal furrow incomplete, of equal length. Scutellum evenly sculptured. Mesosternum midway to anterior margin mesally with two weak curved carinae. Fore wing hyaline, not infuscated. Felt line on tergum 2 about 1.5 × as long as that on sternum 2. Gonostylus mesally with few sparse short setae. Head and metasoma black, dorsal part of mesosoma ferruginous-red, anterior part of prothorax brownish-red. Posterior parts of metasomal segments 2 and 3 with pale setae, much denser on terga. Tergum 3 with sparse erect pale setae. Body length 6.0–12.0 mm.
FEMALE. Clypeus with smooth area delimited by transverse carina above. Mandible apically bidentate. Head, mesosoma, first segments of antenna and legs ferruginous-red, metasoma black, with weak bluish metallic lustre. Head and upper parts of mesosoma with sparse erect black setae and subappressed pale setae. Metasomal tergum 1 basally red, posteriorly with median tuft and lateral fringe of white setae. Tergum 2 posteriorly and tergum 3 with band of yellowish setae, former narrower and not widened medially. Body length 4.0–7.0 mm.

Distribution. Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Crimea, Croatia, France (mainland and Corsica), Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy (mainland and Sardinia), Romania, Russia (southern part of European territory), Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Algeria ( Lelej 2002).
Hosts. Ectemnius rubicola (Dufour et Perris) ( Crabronidae : Crabroninae ) ( Borries 1892), Pemphredon wesmaeli (A. Morawitz) ( Crabronidae : Pemphredoninae ) ( Ferton 1908).
