Etymology: aquaticus is referring to the aquatic habitat.

Holotype: MFLU 11–1070 View Materials .

Saprobic on decaying wood submerged in freshwater. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Colonies superficial, effuse, gregarious, hairy, brown to dark brown. Mycelium partly immersed, composed of septate, pale brown, smooth hyphae. Conidiophores 240–380 μm long (x = 312 μm, n = 20), 6–10 μm wide (x = 7.3 μm, n = 20), macronematous, mononematous, cylindrical, slender, erect, straight or slightly flexuous, smooth, brown to olive gray, paler at apex, unbranched, septate, not constricted at the septa, thin-walled. Conidiogenous cells holoblastic, polyblastic, integrated, determinate, terminal or intercalary, nodose, surrounded by conidia at nodes. Conidia 18–24 × 7.5–9.0 μm (x = 20.6 × 8.3 μm, n = 20), acrogenous and pleurogenic, ellipsoidal to cylindrical, with a truncate, slightly tapering basal end, straight, 1-septate, slightly constricted at septum, subhyaline and guttulate when young, olive gray to brown and without guttules when maturity, solitary, smooth, thin-walled.

Culture characteristics: On PDA colony irregular, reaching 30 mm in 4 weeks at room temperature, dark brown to black from above, dark brown from below, umbonate at surface, rough, dry, edge smooth.

Material examined: THAILAND, Chiang Rai Province, Ban Khun Korn, on decaying wood in freshwater, 26 February 2011, Huang Zhang, e1 (MFLU 11–1070), ex-type living culture, MFLUCC 11–0294.
