Cryptus maculipes Smith, 1874

Type status. Holotype.

Sex. Female.

Condition. Good, but right antenna after fourth flagellomere, right hind wing, and tarsomeres of left hind leg are lost.

Remarks. Although Smith (1874) described this species based on one female specimen, Walker (1874) stated that the male was described by Smith (1874) (see Walker 1874: 304, L13) and pointlessly described the female again. Moreover, Morley (1913b)

indicated that Walker’s female and Smith’s female specimens are not conspecific and the former belongs in Trichocryptus Thomson, 1873 (= Apsilops Förster, 1869 ).
