Type :— IRAQ. Kurdistan: “In monte Pir Omar Gudrun” [Sulaymania, Pira Magrun mountain], June 1867, Haussknecht s.n. (G-BOISS, holotype; isotypes B [barcode B 10 0093390], JE [barcode JE00008532 ]) .
Cousinia macrolepis View in CoL ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 , 6 View FIGURE 6 ) is recorded here from Luristan province as new to Iran ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). This species is related to C. qandilica Rechinger (1972: 223) View in CoL but differs from the latter in the shape of bracts which are spreading to curved at apex vs. appressed and broader bracts. Cousinia macrolepis View in CoL has been known as endemic to N Iraq ( Rechinger 1972), and its distribution is continued to Iran now, along Zagros Mts.
