Columba eversmanni Bonaparte View in CoL

Columba eversmanni Bonaparte, 1856a: 838 View in CoL .

Now: Columba eversmanni Bonaparte, 1856 View in CoL . See Hartert (1920: 1476). Type series: Bonaparte (1856a: 838) did not specify the size of the type series, but referred to material in ZMB. The ZMB possessed only a single specimen ( Lichtenstein 1823a), which is thus the holotype of this species.

Holotype: ZMB 11153 ( Lichtenstein 1822, Nr. 52), skin, unsexed, collected by Eversmann on 29 March 1821 (label and Lichtenstein 1822) [= 10 April 1821] at “Kara-ata” (label) or “Karaata” ( Lichtenstein 1822) [= Chengeldy, Uzbekistan].

Type locality: “Ex Asia occ. et centrali” according to Bonaparte (1856a: 838). The holotype was collected at “Karaata” according to Lichtenstein (1822), which can be identified with the modern-day Chengeldy, Navoiy Province, Uzbekistan [40.96°N, 64.35°E]. We thus restrict the type locality of Columba eversmanni to Chengeldy, Uzbekistan.
