Coelophora mulsanti (Montrouzier)
Coccinella (Daulis) mulsanti Montrouzier, 1861: 304 . Daulis mulsanti: Mulsant 1866: 211 .
Coelophora ochracea Mulsant, 1866: 262 —synonymized by Crotch 1874: 152. Coelophora mulsanti: Crotch 1874: 152 .
This is a common species on both coasts of Grande Terre and the Central Range, Loyalty and Belep Islands, Isle of Pines and Walpole Island. It is also known from Australia. This is a polyphagous predator in natural habitats but also rangeland and disturbed areas. Recorded prey are cicadellid larvae, psyllids [ Heteropsylla cubana Crawford View in CoL , Mesohomotoma hibisci (Froggatt) View in CoL ], aphids ( Cerataphis spp.), and lepidopterous eggs [ Spodoptera mauritia (Boisduval) View in CoL ]. Its biology has been studied in New Caledonia by Sallée & Chazeau (1985) in the context of biocontrol usage against two aphids [ Rhopalosiphum padi (Linnaeus) and Hyperomyzus lactucae (Linnaeus) ]. To date, this species has not yet been promoted for biocontrol programs.
