Material examined. 8♀ [5♀ on slides, 3♀ ethanol-preserved, NEFU], CHINA, Heilongjiang Province, Harbin City, 3.VI.2013, Xiu-wei Liu, Ye Chen , reared from Parthenolecanium corni (Bouché) ( Hemiptera , Coccidae ) on poplar.
Diagnosis. Female. Body ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 14 – 20 ) largely dark brown except TI, base of TII and apex of gaster pale brown. Fore wing faintly infuscate posterior to marginal vein. Legs mostly yellow except extreme base of procoxa, mesocoxa completely, basal one fifth of metacoxa, and all the fourth and fifth tarsomeres brown, but fourth tarsomeres somewhat lighter than fifth. Head ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 – 20 ) slightly wider than high in frontal view. Antenna ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 14 – 20 ) with scape 3.67̄4.0× as long as wide; pedicel distinctly shorter than F1; funicular segments with F1 longest, F2 slightly longer than F3, F3 quadrate to slightly transverse; clava oval, shorter than funicle. Mesoscutellum with 3 pairs of setae. Fore wing ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 14 – 20 ) 2.36̄2.54× as long as wide, stigmal vein ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 14 – 20 ) with a distinct neck. Ovipositor ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 14 – 20 ) short and wide, directed upwards in lateral view, originating from TIV, much shorter than (0.56×) mesotibia. Second valvifer 3.92̄4.07× as long as third valvula. Third valvula short, membranous, tip not reaching the apex of T9, lateral margins of T9 well sclerotized and thickened. Male. Unknown.
Hosts. Parthenolecanium corni (Bouché) [new record]. Additional records ( Noyes 2017) include: Eulecanium caraganae (Borchsenius) , E. douglasi (Šulc) , E. franconicum (Lindinger) , Filippia follicularis (Targioni-Tozzetti) , Lichtensia chilianthi (Brain) , L. viburni (Signoret) , Palaeolecanium bituberculatum (Signoret) , P. ciliatum Lindinger , Physokermes hemicryphus (Dalman) , P. piceae (Schrank) , P. sugonjaevi Danzig , Pulvinaria vitis (Linnaeus) ( Hemiptera , Coccidae ); Chionaspis salicis (Linnaeus) ( Hemiptera , Diaspididae ); Eriococcus henryi (Balachowsky) , E. spurius (Modeer) ( Hemiptera , Eriococcidae ).
Distribution. China (Heilongjiang) [new record], Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Turkey; and also widely distributed in Europe and Nearctic region ( Noyes 2017).
Comments. This is the first record of the subgenus Polycocccophagus from China.
