Note: Either Peritoma lutea (Hooker) Rafinesque or Oxystylis lutea Torrey & Frémont requires a new name in Cleomella . As only one of these can use the specific epithet lutea in Cleomella , P. lutea gains the name Cleomella lutea as it is based on Cleome lutea , which was published in 1830, 15 years prior to the naming of O. lutea .
