5.2.3. Myrcia cuspidata (Mart. ex DC.) View in CoL A.R.Lourenço & E.Lucas (in Lourenço et al. 2018: 75). Calyptranthes cuspidata Martius ex De Candolle (1828: 258) . Chytraculia cuspidata (Mart. ex DC.) Kuntze (1891: 238) . Type:— BRAZIL. Rio Negro, Rio dos Enganos in flumen Japurá, unknown date, von Martius s.n. (lectotype M0171083!, designated by Lourenço et al. 2020; isolectotypes K000331104!, K000331105!, M0171084!, M0171085!, M0171086!, M0171087!, MEL1540473!, MEL1540474!, MEL1540475!).
Myrcia cuspidata View in CoL is similar to the case of Myrcia celaenensis View in CoL (see above). The species has calyptrate flowers but other features such as foliar venation and inflorescence structure are not typical of Myrcia sect. Calyptranthes . The species resembles Myrcia uaupensis View in CoL (O. Berg 1857 –1859: 516) Gaem & E.Lucas (in Gaem et al. 2020: 299) and Myrcia mcvaughii (B. Holst 2002: 147) E.Lucas & C.E.Wilson View in CoL (in Lucas et al. 2016: 673), the latter placed in M. sect. Aulomyrcia by phylogenetic analysis ( Santos et al. 2017). For these reasons, the species is considered as belonging to Myrcia sect. Aulomyrcia (see also Gaem et al. 2022).
