Type material. Holotype ♂, TANZANIA: Mkomazi Game Reserve, Ibaya camp, 04º00’S, 38º00’E, 26.II.1996, A. Russell-Smith leg. ( MRAC 211296).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Cheiramiona ibayaensis sp. nov. is differentiated by the unique short TA without a hooked apex and by the spoon-shaped RTA ( Figs 23–24 View FIGURES 13 – 24. 13 – 15 ).

Description. Male (n = 1): TL = 3.0; CL = 1.5; CW = 1.1; OAL = 0.25; OAW = 0.6; CLL = 0.05. Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; PMT:RMT = 3:3 ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 13 – 24. 13 – 15 ). Measurements: AME–AME 0.10; AME–ALE 0.10; AME diameter 0.10; PME–PME 0.15; PME–PLE 0.10; PME diameter 0.10; MOQAW 0.30; MOQPW 0.35; CI (CL/ CW) 1.36; LL:CL unknown, leg I missing; STL 0.8; STW 0.7. Leg measurements (both legs I missing): I =?; II— 1.2+0.4+1.0+1.2+0.5 = 4.3; III—0.9+0.3+0.7+0.9+0.4 = 3.2; IV—1.5+0.4+1.2+1.4+0.5 = 5.0; Palp— 0.6+0.3+0.2+0.6 = 1.7. Leg spines: I—?; II—0, 0, 2v- 2v-3v; III—0, 0-1r-0, 2v-1 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r; IV—0, 0-1r-0, 2 v1 p-2 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r. Abdomen: damaged; creamy-yellow with a faint heart mark and with a dark marking posterior to heart mark. Palp ( Figs 23–24 View FIGURES 13 – 24. 13 – 15 ): cymbium elongate, longer than patella plus tibia length; tibia with broad spoon-like RTA, with rounded apex; TA short, slightly sclerotized, conical; EM short, thick, with pointed, tapering, apex, apex slightly curved ventrally; CON small, finger-like, distinct but not sclerotized. Female: unknown.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality ( Fig. 98 View FIGURES 97 – 100 ).

Habitat. Collected from grassland.
