1. Chaetogastra brachyphylla (Gleason) P.J.F.Guim. & Michelang. View in CoL , comb. nov.
≡ Tibouchina brachyphylla Gleason (1935: 136) View in CoL . Type:— BOLIVIA. Santa Cruz: Comarapa, Bergwälder , forest at Comarapa , alt. 2500– 3000 m, 20 October 1928, J. Steinbach 8332 (holotype: NY barcode 00245753!; isotypes: E barcode E00285782 , GH barcodes 00073256 & 00073257 [online images!], GOET barcode GOET008065 View Materials [online image!], K barcode K000329165 !, NY barcode 01795930!, PH barcode accession number 681170 [online image!], S accession number S-R-6110 [online image!], UC accession number UC 394785 [online image!], US accession number 1804464!) .
= Tibouchina alpestris Cogniaux (1913: 78–79) View in CoL ≡ Chaetogastra montana P.J.F.Guim. & Michelang. View in CoL in Guimarães et al. (2019: 957), syn. nov., non Chaetogastra alpestris ( Candolle 1828: 140) Martius (1829: 101) View in CoL . Type:— BOLIVIA. Cochabamba: “Im subalpinen Gebüsch an feuchten Stellen bei Comarapa”, 2300 m, April 1911, T.C.J. Herzog 2014A (lectotype, designated by Guimarães et al. (2019): BR barcode BR0000005523931 [fragment]!; isolectotype: B [probably destroyed]).
Notes:—The combination of Tibouchina alpestris Cogn. View in CoL in Chaetogastra View in CoL is blocked by Chaetogastra alpestris (DC.) Mart. View in CoL , which led Guimarães et al. (2019) to create the new name Chaetogastra montana View in CoL for this taxon. However, according to Article 11.4 of the ICN ( Turland et al. 2018), if there is an available name in a more recent synonym “the correct name is the combination of the final epithet of the heterotypic synonym based on the next earliest legitimate name of the taxon at the same rank.” Consequently, no new name was required but a new combination based on the next available synonym.
