Centris albiceps Friese, 1899 View in CoL
Centris mexicana var. albiceps Friese, 1899: 43 View in CoL .
Type data: It is not clear in the original description how many males Friese (1899) studied to describe this species. At ZMB was found a male specimen with original Friese’s identification label which must be part of the type series. Another male with similar label was found at NMW, being here designated lectotype and paralectotype, respectively. The lectotype has the following data label: [black square]\ 11659 Mexiko [handwritten]\ C. mexicana v. albiceps n. var. ♂ [handwritten]\ det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [red label] Lectotypus [printed]\ [red label] Lectotype Centris mexicana albiceps Friese, 1899 des. F. Vivallo, 2014 [handwritten]\ http://coll.mfn-berlin.de/u/ 58fa49 QR code [printed] ( ZMB). Paralectotype with the following data label: m.d.g [handwritten]\ C. mexicana v. albiceps n. var. ♂ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed] ( NMW). A third potentially syntype was found at ZMB also bearing a Friese’s identification label. I am not confident if this specimen is truly member of the original type series, because it was labeled after the description of the species. The specimen has the following data label: 11659 [printed]\ [green label] Mexico Ehrenbg. S. [handwritten]\ Centris m. v. albiceps [handwritten] 1907 Friese det. [printed] ( ZMB).
Type locality: Mexico .
Comments: The type locality cannot be further narrowed down than to Mexico. This species was correctly interpreted by Moure et al. (2007) .
