2. Centratherum repens (Sprengel) Loeuille & Pirani View in CoL in Loeuille et al. (2014: 3). Calydermos repens Sprengel (1820: 278) . Type:— BRAZIL. No other data, F. Sello(w) s.n. (holotype: P e! [P04388734, pro parte]). Ethulia involucrata Nees & Mart. in Wied-Neuwied (1824: 3). Ampherephis psilocarpa Wied-Neuwied (1824: 4) , as “ Amphirephis ”.

Oiospermum involucratum (Nees & Mart.) Lessing (1829: 339) View in CoL . Type:— BRAZIL. In Brasiliae arenosis circa San Pedro de Alcantara ,

1816, M.A.P. Prinz zu Wied-Neuwied s.n. (holotype: P e! [ P04388734 , pro parte]) .

Distribution and habitat: — Brazil ( Bahia , Espírito Santo?). Open formations, mostly in disturbed areas.

Taxonomic notes: —A rarely collected species. Similar to Centratherum cardenasii by its annual life cycle (vs. perennial) and cypsela lacking pappus, but C. repens has glabrous leaves and cypselae covered by small divergently tipped setulae.

The type material of Ethulia involucrata (P04388734) appears to have been a re-mount of a historical sheet with two collections. If specimens and labels are still in the same position as were originally mounted, the right-hand specimen with its respective right-hand label set (one of them written by Prinz zu Wied-Neuwied) is the holotype of Ethulia involucrata . Interestingly, the left-hand specimen with its left-hand label set is type material of Calydermos repens since one of the label displays Sprengel’s handwriting and the name followed by an asterisk that Sprengel used to indicate his new taxa. However, we cannot be sure if the position of the specimens was maintained during the re-mount. Therefore, we consider that part of P04388734 is the holotype of Ethulia involucrata and the other part holotype of Calydernos repens without being able to specify which of both plants is which type. The neotypification of Calydermos repens by Loeuille et al. (2014) no longer stands.

See Loeuille et al. (2014) for further details about synonymies.
